Welcome!
If you are reading this, you are likely exploring the idea of starting therapy. I commend you for taking this first step!
Finding the right therapist can be tiresome, confusing, exciting, and daunting. I hope my website can give you more information about me and my practice so you can get a sense of whether we might be a good fit.
In my practice, I see adults and adolescents for psychotherapy. I believe that having a safe and trusting therapeutic relationship is necessary for personal growth and change. I will make every effort on my part to ensure that you feel safe and supported. Together we will work collaboratively to ensure you are getting the most out of each session and are being supported, yet challenged to make changes. I believe that each person has unique needs; therefore, my theoretical approach is tailored individually to the person sitting in front of me.
I consider myself to be a very warm, open-minded, curious, and straightforward therapist. I believe humor (when appropriate) is an essential part of life and in healing. In my professional and personal life, I value genuineness, openness, and learning new things. I love working with people and love what I do for a living.
The list below shows areas in which I have experience. This list is not exhaustive, so please contact me if you are dealing with something you do not see listed below.
If your adolescent is dealing with gender identity concerns or you are an adolescent seeking therapy for gender identity concerns, please know that my goal is to support the adolescent in finding their way in this world, but also supporting the family going through this process. I will help the adolescent and family become educated in what gender identity is, what transitioning to another gender entails, help the adolescent evaluate their thoughts and feelings related to gender, and make sure any decisions made are thoroughly discussed and thought out before any medical action is made. Transitioning is a BIG decision and not to be taken lightly. I help each individual cope with the discomfort of not being born to the gender of their choice and help them find ways to be content with where they are in the process, whether it be in the stage of questioning, feeling ready for medical intervention, or somewhere in between. I try my best to work with any doctors involved as well to ensure everyone is on the same page. Please feel free to call me to discuss how I approach gender identity with adolescents, I'm happy to answer any questions you may have!
I am also trained to conduct Prolonged Exposure (PE) therapy to those suffering from Post Traumatic Stress Disorder. If you are interested in finding out more about PE, please give me a call. There are also a couple of websites below that may give you some information.
Lastly, if you are a therapist seeking their own therapy, I would love the opportunity to work with you. This is an area in which I don't have much experience, but am highly interested in seeing more in my practice. I would be grateful to navigate these waters together!
